You won't have to bother with a bunch of batteries, you won't have to worry about power outages ruining your smarthome system, and your control won't be ruined by cutting wires. Just add this expansion board with a lithium-ion battery and your project will become truly autonomous.

The battery is charged via micro-USB connector from a computer or from an outlet.

What's on-board

At the heart of Shild is a 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery. The board also includes:

  • A toggle switch
  • A Micro-USB connector
  • A jumper for outputting charge level to pin A0
  • An on-off indicator (ON)
  • A charge indicator (CHARGING BATT)
  • A low battery indicator (LOW)

Use the Power Shield as an ordinary Arduino shield and your devices will receive easily receive 5 V using standard pins.

To get information about the current battery level, you can connect the VBAT contacts to the jumper. An analog signal proportional to the battery charge will be output to pin A0.

Overload Protection

The battery has a built-in overload protection. If the current exceeds 900 mA, the fuse will trip and the device will turn off. To reset the the fuse, plug the charging cable into the Power Shield for a few seconds.

Mechanical Compatibility

To install the Troyka LP Shield and other boards with downward-facing elements on the Power Shield, use the set of stackable pin headers with icsp. This will eliminate any possibility of accidentally closing contacts.
