This compact driver solves two problems: it controls the WS2812 and lowers the incoming voltage to 3.3 or 5 volts.

LEDs are used to to decorate our homes, use them in advertising and interactive exhibits, or are even in music installations and Ambilight systems.

The WS2812 driver simplifies the connection of LED strips to the control electronics. Insert the strip's wires into the terminal block, tighten the screws and connect the module to an Arduino or Iskra controller. Now your LEDs are ready to go.

This module not only controls the LEDs, but also eliminates extra wires. A TPS562200 step-down converter from Texas Instruments is provided on the board. It is needed to power the control board from the LED strip. The chip will lower the input from 5-14 V to either 3.3 or 5, depending on the position of the jumper.

The driver would also be useful in cases where it is necessary to simply supply a large load on 3.3 or 5 V from a 12 V power supply.

Connection

The module is connected via contacts and screw terminals.

Troyka Contacts to connect to the control board:

  • Contact DI - data for LED strip. Connect to the digital pin on the microcontroller.
  • Contact V - output voltage of the DC-DC converter (3.3 / 5 V). Connect to the power terminal on the control board.
  • Contact G - common ground. Connect to the GND pin of the control board.

Terminals to connect the input voltage and LED strip:

  • Contact DO - data with logic up to five volts for the LED strip. Connect to the data pin on the LED strip.
  • Contact GND - common ground. Connect to the input voltage's ground. In WS2812 driver mode, connect to the GND pin of the LED strip.
  • Contact Vin - pin input voltage. Connect to the power supply input pin. In WS2812 driver mode, connect the power supply to the LED strip.

When connecting to Arduino or Iskra, it would be extremely convenient to use a Troyka Shield or a Troyka Slot Shield. Connection cables included in the kit.
